FANG Offers FishHawk Scholarship

Members of FishHawk Area Business Group, a five-year-old networking group of FishHawk residents and business owners, wanted to do something for the community. After hosting successful community events for four years, the group wants to do more and has established the FANG Scholarship, a $500 scholarship intended for a resident high school senior to use towards local college tuition.

More Than 100 Families Complete Scavenger Hunt

More than 100 families and 800 people enjoyed a Spring afternoon at FishHawk’s Park Square during the second FishHawk Area Networking Group Scavenger Hunt. The event, planned to promote FishHawk resident businesses and a family activity was another huge success according to organizers who had to turn businesses away due to the demand on the event.

FANG Kicks Off New Year With Donation

FishHawk Area Networking Group, a group of more than 100 FishHawk Ranch residents and business owners wanted to do something to give back to the community. So, the group ‘passed the hat’ at one of its bi-monthly networking sessions and charged member and Usborne Books representative, Christine Ans, with finding a worthy school to accept $600 worth of book donations.

 

The group chose Gibsonton Elementary School to receive the books.  “We appreciate the donation,” said Gibsonton principal Donna Marra. “These books will be well received by our students.”

 

Ans, also a local Girl Scout Leader, is proud of her networking group and looks forward to more fundraisers throughout the year.

FANG Hosts Best Ever Back to School Fest

FishHawk resident David Gottleib, owner of Carvel Ice Cream located on Bloomingdale Ave., knew that his booth would be a big hit at this year's FishHawk Area Networking Group (FANG) Back to School Festival held in August 2006.  What he didn’t know was that he would actually run out of his 1,200 ice cream sundae cups by 11 a.m. with the event continuing until 12 noon.  Fortunately, other vendors at the event picked up where he left off with sno cones, pizza, chicken wings and fajitas from Cody’s Roadhouse being another popular stop at the event.

More than 2,000 people attended the fourth annual event and enjoyed performances by local dance schools, twirling groups, singing and more.  County Services, including the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s helicopter, mounted patrol, marine unit and

Residents Start Community Networking Group

Lithia: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Moving from California, Alex and Heidi Oros wanted a community where they could raise their three children and have an all-inclusive development with trees, community center and schools on site. They found what they were looking for in FishHawk Ranch. In addition to a great family life, the Oros’ also found a way to start getting the name of their business into the community, by joining the business networking group that focuses on FishHawk Ranch Business owners. The FishHawk Area Networking Group, FANG has been meeting for almost three months at the community center. Every resident and business owner in the community is welcome to attend the weekly meetings held at the community movie theatre.
