More Than 100 Families Complete Scavenger Hunt

By Marie Gilmore or Staff Report

More than 100 families and 800 people enjoyed a Spring afternoon at FishHawk’s Park Square during the second FishHawk Area Networking Group Scavenger Hunt. The event, planned to promote FishHawk resident businesses and a family activity was another huge success according to organizers who had to turn businesses away due to the demand on the event.

“This was another great family event,” said FANG coordinator Denise Graf. “We are already making plans for a huge turnout at our summer event, the Back to School Festival on Saturday, August 18, 9 a.m.-12 noon.”

At the hunt, families registered at the central registration booth and ‘hunted’ through the area business booths to find clues. The first 100 families to complete the hunt, then turned it in for a FANG family beach bucket filled with toys. All residents left with giveaways, coupons, flyers and information on their local businesses.

“This is our first year doing this event,” said Let’s Eat manager Lorena Woods. “We are very pleased with the turnout and getting some great feedback from the community.”

More than 25 FANG members had business booths at the event with samples, activities and giveaways. Members Lake Brandon Village Chick-fil-A, Formaggio’s Pizzeria, Let’s Eat, Publix and Costco offered food samples. Kids ‘R’ Kids offered face painting and the local cub scouts were providing community service.

Theatre Arts & Dance Alliance owner Steve Kraack emceed the event with demonstrations from TADA and board breaking demonstrations from Sidekicks Tae Kwon Doe.

Door prizes were awarded throughout the event to those who completed their scavenger hunt forms and enter to win.

FishHawk resident Jennifer Patrick walked away with a new portable DVD player courtesy of the Osprey Observer and was just one of many prizes offered.

“Our family truly enjoyed the event,” said Patrick. “It is something I would attend again.”

Sponsored by the St. Pete Times/Brandon Times and Osprey Observer Community Newspapers, FANG Family Scavenger Hunt is just one of several annual community events hosted by FANG members.

Located at the intersection of FishHawk Crossings Boulevard and Dorman Road within FishHawk Ranch, Park Square offers a town center of shops and an interactive water fountain, performance stage, outdoor living room and village greens.
