FANG Offers FishHawk
Scholarship
By Marie
Gilmore
Members of
FishHawk Area Business Group, a five-year-old networking
group of FishHawk residents and business owners, wanted to
do something for the community. After hosting successful
community events for four years, the group wants to do more
and has established the FANG Scholarship, a $500 scholarship
intended for a resident high school senior to use towards
local college tuition.
“We would
love to pick a FishHawk senior every year to receive this
scholarship,” said scholarship chair Michael Melanson. “We
are looking for students that get out there and do good
things in their community.”
In addition
to a 3.0 or above grade point average, FANG members will
look for community service, letters of recommendation and a
500 word essay from the applicants.
Scholarship
applications are now being accepted through May 31. The
winner will be chosen by FANG member in June and the
scholarship awarded at the Thursday, June 14 meeting of FANG
at 7:30 p.m. in the Palmetto Club.
Applications
are available at all FANG meetings, the second and fourth
Thursdays of the month at the Palmetto Club conference room
at 7:30 p.m. or through the
www.fangconnect.com website.
For
questions or details, contact FANG coordinator Denise Graf
at 643-0730 or email dlgraf@tampabay.rr.com.
